Saddle stitching is an ancient method of joining two pieces of leather and has stood the test of time because it produces the strongest seam possible. All Whēlan goods are saddle stitched entirely by hand, producing a reliable and elegant seam. The extra time invested in stitching ensures the piece will last a lifetime.

All of our hardware is solid brass or stainless steel for maximum durability and is available in a natural finish or plated in gold or nickel.

Apart from stitching, edge finishing is the most time consuming element of the process. With the final appearance of the product at stake, a Whēlan product is not a “Whēlan” until the edge finish is flawless.
